- What is takeascreen.com? takeascreen.com is a Loom and CleanShot alternative that makes screen videos and screenshots for you. Describe what to show and your AI agent opens its own cloud browser, does the task, records it or captures it, writes the narration, adds a voice-over, callouts and styling. You can also record or snap yourself in the web recorder (no install) or with the Chrome connector. Every capture gets a layout, optional presenter avatar, format, frame, captions and a share link.
- Is it only for screen captures? Yes, on purpose. The agent is a specialist: screen videos, screenshots, and everything around them (narration, voice-over, layouts, avatars, annotations, styles, mobile format, scheduling, sharing). Ask it for anything else and it will politely offer to capture it instead.
- How is this different from Loom? Loom makes it easy for you to record. takeascreen.com can also do the recording for you: type "take a screen of how to set up Stripe webhooks, with voice-over" and the agent records the walkthrough, writes the script and voices it. When you do press record yourself, you get the same AI script, voice-over, avatars, layouts, frames and captions on top, plus annotated screenshots, which Loom does not do.
- What can it do with screenshots? Capture any page (full page too), then annotate: arrows, boxes, ellipses, text, numbered steps, highlights and blur for private details. Style it with a background or gradient, padding, rounded corners, a shadow and a browser-window or phone frame, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5. Describe the callouts and the agent adds them, or draw them yourself in the editor.
- Can it make vertical videos for mobile? Yes. Choose Mobile (9:16) and the agent records in a phone-sized viewport, or the renderer pads and frames an existing capture. Square (1:1) and portrait (4:5) work the same way, with an optional phone frame and big captions for social.
- What are the three ways to capture? From a prompt: your agent records or screenshots in its own cloud browser, 24/7, even on a schedule. In your browser: share a screen, window or tab at /record, add a camera bubble, pick a layout and aspect, countdown and go, or snap a screenshot. With the Chrome connector: one click on "Record this tab" or "Screenshot this tab" uploads to your library, and your agent can use that same signed-in Chrome when you allow it.
- Do I need a camera or a microphone? No. Without a camera, pick one of six AI presenter avatars that lip-sync to the voice-over, or use the screen-only layout. Without a microphone, the agent writes a script from what happened on screen and voices it in one of 20+ voices and 30+ languages. If you have both, record yourself: the camera bubble and side-by-side layouts are built in.
- What does it do with a recording afterwards? Trim, title card, layout (screen only, camera bubble, side by side, camera only or AI presenter), aspect and frame, background styles, a script written from what happened on screen, voice-over, captions and a transcript. Edit any line of the script and re-voice it, or ask for the same video in another language.

- Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Cancel from the Billing page in a couple of clicks. If you cancel within the first 24 hours you won't be charged the monthly price, and there are no long-term contracts.
- Which AI models does it use? Do I need an API key? No key needed: use platform AI credits and top up whenever you like. The agent, the script and the voices run on models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, ElevenLabs and more, 450+ through OpenRouter, and you can choose per agent. Prefer your own? Bring an API key.
- Who can see my captures? Only you, until you turn on sharing. A shared capture gets a link like takeascreen.com/v/abc123 that anyone with the link can open; turn it off and the link stops working. Posting a link to Slack, Telegram or anywhere else waits for your OK when the agent does it.
- Can it capture inside tools I am logged in to? Yes. Save a login in the vault and the agent signs in inside its own cloud browser, or pair your own Chrome with the connector and the agent works in a separate window of your browser, on the sites you allow, with your existing sessions.
- Is my data secure? Every agent works in its own private workspace, API keys and saved logins are encrypted at rest, and your recordings, screenshots, scripts and conversations are never shared with other customers or used to train models.
- Do I need to keep my computer on? Not for agent captures: they run in our cloud around the clock, so you can schedule "every Monday, a screenshot of the dashboard" and close your laptop. Web and Chrome captures happen on your machine while you record.
